Summary: Phaeton is a demi-god who is wondering whether his mother is telling him the truth about his father being the “sun god”. So one day he randomly decides to climb the mountain/whatever where the sun god lives; somewhere no mortal has ever been, it’s always day at the palace of the Sun. He finally gets to the palace and is like: “hey, yo pops. Are you really my father?” Helios is like: “yeah man! You bet I am, me and your mother hit it off and you popped out.” Then Helios makes an oath to give the boy whatever his heart desires to prove to him that he is actually his father. Phaeton wants to make the sun rise and set by controlling the chariot and horses that guide the sun just like his father does. However Helios doesn’t think this is a good idea as he will surely not be able to control the horses and will most likely die and ruin the world. But Phaeton is no phased and insists that his wish be granted. So he starts his adventure and quickly loses control and almost destroys the whole planet by burning it up in fire, Gaia (the earth) yells for help! Then Jove throws a lightning bolt killing Phaeton and saves the earth and everything is all good and well. He is buried and the inscription: here Phaeton lies who drive the Sun-god’s car. Greatly he failed, but he had greatly dared”, is written on his tomb.
2) Pegasus and Bellerophon
Summary: Bellerophon is the supposed son of Glaucus (the guy who fed human flesh to his own horses to make them more fierce but was eventually killed and eaten by his own horses and now he forever tries to roll a stone up hill in Hades). But he also is the supposed son of Poseidon, and his mothers name is Eurynome who was taught to be cunning by Athena. and boring boring boring. But basically the story goes that he is obsessed with horses and becomes fixed on capturing and taming Pegasus, a horse that can fly. However no one can even get close to him before he flies away. however, someone tells him to go sleep in the temple of Athena and maybe the gods will tell him the secrets to Pegasus. They do talk to him and give him a golden bridle to capture Pegasus, he goes and captures the horse and then starts his adventure. He accidentally killed his brother somehow and seeked to be forgiven and had to go visit some people, a queen fell in love with him but he refused her because he knew her husband well so she lied and told the king to kill him because Bellerophon had wronged her. He didn't want to, so he sent him off to Asia for someone else to kill him. When he arrived in Asia that king didn't want to kill him either, so he sent him on a another adventure that should have killed him and so forth and so on. He kept on prevailing and the Asian dude liked him so much he had him marry his own daughter and he lived happy for a long time. Then he got to cocky and tried to become a god and fly up to Olympus and the gods didn't like that too much, nor did Pegasus. So Pegasus threw him off his back and flew up to Olympus by himself and lived there and Bellerophon hated the gods and lived the rest of his life in depression until he died.
3) Otus and Ephialte
Summary: In this story two twin brothers Otus and Ephialtes find themselves wishing to mess around with the gods, they are the sons of Poseidon and they end up capturing Ares (god of war) and Zeus sends down Hermes to free him. They then decide that they will throw a mountain on another mountain and climb up to Olympus. At this point Zeus is sorta ticked off and decides he will just strike them both with lightning bolts and kill them, however Poseidon (being a big baby) begs for their lives and promises to talk to them. He does so and gets them to stop their plan, however they now have a new plan and decide to go after two goddesses that they both find their own fancy. They first decide to go after Artemis, however she out smarts them and they end up being tricked with a fake image and throw spears at each other killing each other. (the only person they truly loved).
4) Daedalus
This story was fairly short. Daedalus was the creator of the Labyrinth. When King Minos found out that Athenians had found a way out of the Labyrinth, he assumed that Daedalus had shown them they way, enraged he sent Daedalus and his son there. Even though Daedalus was the creator of the maze, even he could not find a way out, so he made wings so they could fly away. But he warned his son not to fly too high because the wings might melt away and he would die. and of course he did just that and fell to his death while Daedalus flew safely to Sicily. When King Minos found out that they also escaped he devised a plan to figure out where Daedalus was hiding: He offered a reward for anyone who could figure out how to put thread through a intricately spiraled shell. Daedalus heard of the reward and tied a thread to the back of an ant and threaded the shell. King Minos came to Sicily to kill him but the Sicily king would not allow him to take him and King Minos was slain.
